2025 has been an incredible year for gaming. As we reach the latter half of the year, Summer Game Fest pulls together a collection of surprising reveals that have us excited for what 2026 has in store. Although it was vacant of big-named titles many were hoping to see, and a fair share of up-and-down moments (with a few snooze fests along the way) it still managed to reconcile with some truly exquisite games to look forward to.

From new sequels in beloved franchises to the resurgence of classic genres and uniquely ambitious titles, it's safe to say that in 2026, we’re going to be fed.

In no particular order, here are some of our most anticipated games showcased during this year’s Summer Game Fest.

Resident Evil 9 Requiem

Revealed after a disputatious tease during the Summer Game Fest showcase, Capcom’s Resident Evil Requiem was without a doubt one of the biggest surprises. Fans of the survival horror series have been anticipating the next chapter for a while now and finally, Capcom delivered.

Requiem marks the ninth core entry in the legendary franchise, and it brings with it a brand-new protagonist: Grace Ashcroft, an intelligence analyst for the FBI. Set years after the global biological catastrophe that reshaped humanity, players return to a post-apocalyptic Raccoon City. Ashcroft is assigned to investigate a mysterious corpse found in an abandoned hotel—but the twist? It’s the same hotel where her mother died eight years ago.

The trailer gave a terrifying glimpse of the psychological torment and grotesque monstrosities players will face. Visually, it’s a huge leap forward from Resident Evil Village, pushing the RE Engine to new heights. But perhaps the most exciting innovation is Capcom’s newly introduced gameplay feature: the ability to switch between first-person and third-person perspectives—a franchise first.

With its chilling narrative, fresh mechanics, and deeply atmospheric setting, Resident Evil Requiem looks poised to define a new era of survival horror. Requiem is set to arrive on February 27th, 2026.

Out of Words

As the world of gaming is chasing the allure of photo-realism, there’s something beautiful, almost rebellious when you come across a game that decides to wear its own soul. Carefully Handcrafted with heart, Out of Words is a new cooperative game with stop-motion animation graphics. In collaboration with acclaimed poet Morten Søndergaard, co-developers Kong Orange and WireFly aim to tell a story with a human touch.

In this colorful and vibrant world of Vokabulantis, a love story between Kurt and Karla is born when they first hold hands. Together, they embark on a wild adventure through this wondrous land to find their lost voices in this deeply imaginative co-op side-scroller.

Out of Words evokes a heartwarming story soon to be told—one that gently plucks at your heartstrings and reminds you why life is worth living.

We’re expected to have Out of Words in our hands in 2026.

Pragmata

Originally announced in 2020 with a planned 2022 release date, Capcom’s new IP Pragmata left fans in awe and intrigued with its near-futuristic sci-fi atmosphere. However, with multiple delays and long stretches of silence, fans began to grow disillusioned — unsure if the game would ever see the light of day. That jadedness came to an end on June 4th of this year, when Capcom debuted a new, enigmatic gameplay trailer.

Pragmata quickly became one of the most highly anticipated games during Playstation’s showcase. It’s a new third-person action-adventure where you follow an astronaut named Hugh  who ends up trapped on a lunar research station in a far dystopian future. Hugh is  accompanied by a strange, blonde-haired, little girl named Diana who happens to possess computer hacking abilities. Together, the two battle against hostile robotic machines. While the game introduces a compelling setup, the broader premise and direction of Pragmata are still shrouded in mystery. Still, its cutting-edge visuals and high-octane gameplay are more than enough to keep our eyes on it.

At end of its climactic trailer, it announces it would make an arrival in 2026.

007 First Light

IO Interactive takes a step back from their climatic Hitman series, to finally reveal their long-awaited 007 game. And it looks astonishing, to say the least. As we step back from playing as the monotone skilled assassin Agent 47, we put on the shoes of a young James Bond. In 007 First Light, IO Interactive breathes new life to the James Bond lore by reimagining his origin story. In the trailer we encompass James Bond, doing what James Bond always does: Driving exotic sports cars, being flirtatious, ducking from bullets, exploring international locales. You know – the usual Bond things.

Within its adrenaline-pumped trailer, the game pulses with the stylistic fingerprints of the Hitman series— with its third-person tension, cinematic framing, and landscapes rendered with breathtaking precision. Nonetheless, it looks to be a promising title, putting us in control of a more reckless James Bond, diving into chaotic excursions with thrilling gameplay that keeps us on edge.

There’s no exact release date just yet, only a distant promise: 2026.

Marvel Tokon

While souls‑like games have dominated lately, Team Ninja and PlatinumGames are channeling the old‑school brutality fans crave, with lightning‑fast combos, intense air juggle, and visceral finishers.

Plus, there’s a twist: a brand-new protagonist, Yakumo of the Raven Clan, joins legend Ryu Hayabusa as a playable hero. It’s the perfect mix of nostalgia and fresh blood—exactly the adrenaline rush true action fans have been waiting for.

Ninja Gaiden 4 is set to release this year on October 21st, 2025.

ILL

There are plenty of horror games that’ll make your skin crawl, but Team Clout’s action survival horror game ILL embodies the very essence of hell on earth. What began as a concept back in 2021, ILL returns with a new jarring trailer, showcasing its grotesque body-horror, brutal dismemberment capabilities, hideous monstrosities that’ll likely unlock new phobias.

The game takes place in a dystopian world, where you explore a research fort that continuously produces horrific aberrations. As the player, you’ll investigate the premises in search of something—or someone—that matters most, trapped deep within the nightmare.

Team Clout claims that ILL will be a "realistic and terrifying experience", by embedding with "disturbingly realistic horrors", using gore, advanced physics, and immersive binaural audio.

Undoubtedly, ILL is as disturbing as they come. Its visceral presentation and nauseating atmosphere position it as a title that could push horror games into new territory—expanding the boundaries of fear into places once thought unimaginable.

With no exact release date, it's expected to arrive sometime in 2026.
